What Should I Expect at A Workers' Compensation Hearing?

Workers Compensation hearings are informal. Many clients get nervous about driving downtown. They think it’s going to be like court, but it’s not. It’s an administrative process, and hearings generally only last approximately 15 minutes.

At the first hearing, your hearing will be held in front of a district hearing officer. If an appeal gets filed, the second hearing will be scheduled approximately 30 to 40 days later in front of a staff hearing officer. Typically, you do not get a decision the day of your hearing. The hearing officer will take the matter under advisement and you will get a decision in the mail within five to seven days.
